Application, Class, and Homestudy COMPLETE! (August 2009)

We got back to the US in early July and got to work on our "homework" packet from Bethany. It was a lot of paperwork, but when we sat down and did it, it only took about one morning. Then mid-July we went to a 2-day adoption education class at the Bethany office in Orlando. We learned A LOT about birthmoms and how special they are to this whole process. We're excited about our baby, but now, thanks to the class, we hope we get to meet our birthmom and let her know how special she is!

Today Karen, our adoption agent from Bethany, came to our house to do our homestudy. It took around 3 hours or so. She interviewed us together and then separately. It wasn’t bad at all! A few challenging questions like, “So have you thought about future generations if your baby is a different ethnicity than white?” and “What traditions do you have in your family?” Then she did a “Home Safety Inspection” and made sure our home met the qualifications.
